Shack Open Days

The shack Open Days are held annually during the National Trust Heritage Festival, usually in April or May. Due to limited numbers and the popularity of these days, we suggest you book in advance.

Each of the three cabin communities takes turns hosting this annual heritage walk.

The RNP Coastal Cabins Protection League hosts a free guided walking tour run by volunteers from the community.

Bookings are essential. The event is by donation, but please note the standard Royal National Park car entry fee applies to all participants.

Volunteer guides will take walkers to meet the locals and hear how the shacks came to be in existence and how they have survived.

Bring walking shoes, a hat, a refillable water bottle, sunscreen and swimming gear if desired.

Be prepared to walk over rough bush tracks, uneven ground and sandy beaches.

”Thanks so much to you and the other locals who spent their Sunday sharing their holiday houses with us. We loved hearing the history of the area and found the individual shacks so interesting and varied.

Thank you again.”
